Secondary vocational school education is an important part of secondary education,which,however,develops relatively slow.For the past ten years,because of the relatively poor quality of students in secondary vocational schools,the situation of English teaching in secondary vocational schools has been disappointing,whereupon the author attempts to combine the WebQuest mode with Vocational English teaching in order to find a suitable way to improve the situation of the English Teaching in Vocational schools.WebQuest is designed to cultivate the students’ active learning,cooperative learning and innovative thinking,and their ability to solve problems.Through the WebQuest teaching mode,teachers can make use of abundant network information,stimulate students’ interest in learning,and guide students to learn actively.With the development of information technology in the 21st Century,information-based teaching method which focuses on information tools is helpful to students’ learning.WebQuest mode is one of the ways to integrate information technology with curriculum.The author first gives a brief introduction of the WebQuest mode,the related literatures,and theories,and then reviews the current situation of research on WebQuest mode at home and abroad,and the WebQuest mode in English teaching research.Meanwhile,the author discovers that few researchers make a study of WebQuest used in English Teaching of secondary vocational education.Therefore,the author finds it necessary to investigate and analyze the current situation of English teaching in secondary vocational schools,and tries to combine WebQuest mode with the English teaching in secondary vocational school.This research aims to study how to carry out the WebQuest-based teaching mode in secondary school education.The WebQuest-based teaching mode helps to arouse the students’ interest in learning English,and improves the current situation of English Teaching in vocational schools.The author establishes an empirical study on WebQuest teaching mode by making an experiment with single group and post test mode:G O1 X O2 and selects a class from Grade 12 majoring in tourism as the experimental class.The WebQuest-based teaching experiment lasts one semester,and then the author compares the English teaching in the same class before and after.In the course of the study,the author tries to focus on the following aspects:1)To design WebQuest theme task combined with vocational English teaching content,which can stimulate the students’interest in learning.2)To make a scaffold for the students to do the WebQuest theme task,helping students to carry out WebQuest Task under the teacher’s guidance.3)To discover the change of the students’ English learning in secondary vocational school.Based on the analyses of the results of the interview and the two questionnaires,the author discovers that the students in secondary vocational school hold a positive attitude in the use of information technology for learning.In class,the interaction between teachers and students,students’ learning initiative and enthusiasm have been significantly improved,which greatly helps to change the depressed vocational English class situation for better.At the same time,WebQuest mode has great advantages for other vocational majors.Thus,this research has its practical value.Therefore,it is necessary to popularize the WebQuest mode in vocational schools.
