With the rapid development of the global economy,China is the largest developing country and the United States is the largest developed country in the world. Therefore,to develop actively the exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States in the field of health is not only in the interest of the health of the two countries but also conducive to promoting mutual trust and friendship between both parties. In October,2018,the 8th US-China Health Forum was jointly held by Sichuan Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences in Chengdu. This paper is related to a medical Chinese-English interpretation practice. The author was assigned as the interpreter for the speaker of the 11 th topic of this forum. The practical materials of this interpretation will be analyzed in this paper. The content of the speech is mainly about the exploration of "Refined Medical Cooperation" in Yichang,Hubei province, with a lot of professional contents in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases by medical institutions, such as the prevention and control center in Yichang. The speaker,Mr.Liu Youkun is deputy director of Yichang Municipal Health and Planning Commission in Hubei province, with a strong Hubei accent. He spoke quickly and repeated a lot.The audience of this conference were mainly medical cooperation experts and doctors from home and abroad. So the atmosphere of this meeting was very solemn and professional.Because of the nature of the meeting and the content of the lecture, the author decides to choose the Interpretive Theory, proposed by Danica Seleskovitch,as guidance to the interpretation practice. The three main steps of Interpretive Theoryare comprehension,de-verbalization and re-expression the meaning of the source language with the target language.Following the three steps and the case analysis, the author draws a conclusion as follow: the interpreter should combine with the source language in the process of interpreting, use the "cognitive complement" to de-verbalize the speaker's sense with integration to remember a long span of information in order to deliver it accurately to the audience. The author hopes to provide some references and strategies for the cultivation of professional interpretation and to share them with those who have deep enthusiasm in interpretation.
