According to the Interpretative Theory of Translation, de-verbalization is an essential and indispensable part of interpreting practices. Thus de-verbalization is an important ability that should be learned and acquired by qualified interpreters. Under the principle of Interpretative Theory of Translation, using different interpreting skills is critical in the interpreting process. It can enable the interpreters to handle sentences more flexibly. Through specific training, interpreters’ ability in this area can be strengthened.This paper attempts to analyze the author’s ability to de-verbalize in the case of the Chinese-English Consecutive Interpretation of China Memorandum. It focuses on the usage of different interpreting skills to handle sentences flexibly under the guidance of Interpretative Theory of Translation.
