Reporting On C-E Translation Of Shanxi Museum Commentary From The Perspective Of The Skopos Theory

Culture is a symbol of a country and a nation.It is a business card for a country and a nation to go to the world.As a carrier of culture,the museum carries a country with a long history and splendid culture,and is an important window reflecting the development and changes of a country.As an important part of the translation of foreign propaganda,the interpretation of the museum commentary is an important channel for foreigners to understand Chinese culture.Therefore,the translation of museum commentary plays a very important role in the translation of the foreign language.Based on the “Shanxi Museum Commentary”,this report explores how to conduct museum commentary translation under the guidance of the Skopos theory,so as to achieve the purpose of cultural communication.Based on the three principles of purpose,coherence and fidelity of the Skopos theory,this translation report mainly discusses the following questions: Firstly,based on the principle of purpose,when considering the particularity of Chinese words,short sentences and the specific meaning of the structure,the translator can use the vocabulary,short sentence analysis,appropriately use of amplification,annotation and other strategies to achieve the purpose principle;then from the principle of coherence,the translator can use some strategies like adding the subject,adjusting the word order to make the sentence more coherent,the context more connected,so as to achieve the principle of coherence;thirdly,from the principle of faithfulness,the translator can maintain the original meaning in translation,and try to maintain the structure of the sentence,to achieve consistency between the source language and the target language in the rhetoric and cultural connotation and the principle of loyalty.Finally,the translator has to bear in mind that while disseminating cultural information,the translation does not need to stick to the expression of the source language stubbornly,since the dissemination of culture is sometimes more important than the expression of information.In addition,the translation report explains in detail the shortcomings and the implications in this translation practice.
