This is a translation practice report. The source text is an international publicity brochure, China-Ningxia, edited by Ningxia Foreign Affairs Office. As an example of regional publicity material, this brochure contains major achievements in economic and social development, cultural exchange and tourism development.The report is divided into five parts. Part one is an introduction to the background, objective and significance of the translation practice. Part two is about the translation task, including the task description and the content of the source text. Part three is the whole translation process, including pre-translation preparation, translation process and revision and proofreading. Part four is the case study, which aims to solve four major problems under the guidance of Skopos theory, such as translation of titles, translation of the names of historic sites and scenic spots, translation of redundant information and rewriting the text at discourse level. The author adopts different translation methods and techniques, trying to meet the requirements of international publicity translation and convey the original meaning of the source text. The last part is about the implications from the translation practice. |
