In 2017,the new National English Curriculum Standard aims at developing students' language ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability as the main goal.Based on Risager's model for cultural contents analysis,the author forms an appropriate model after making some adjustments.The comparative method and example method are used to the study in New High English by People's Education Press(NHEPEP)and High English by Beijing Normal University Press(HEBNUP).The study conducts a comparative analysis from micro culture,macro culture and international culture.This paper discusses the following questions: Firstly,what kinds of cultural contents are contained in the two sets of textbooks? Secondly,whether the cultural contents are in accord with the requirements of the new Standards? Finally,what are the differences and similarities? The study found that,first,the cultural content in NHEPEP and HEBNUP are in line with the requirements of the new Curriculum Standard.Second,the two textbooks include micro culture,macro culture and international culture.Third,the NHEPEP pays attention to the characters of the age of the students as the protagonist,while the HEBNUP specially designs the cultural corner.Through analysis,it suggests that teachers should attach importance to cultural contrast and suggests that the editors should adjust the proportion of various culture.The study holds that teaching materials play an important role in carrying forward Chinese excellent traditional culture and cultivating students' awareness of intercultural communication.
