The rapid development of globalization and the deepening of China's reform and opening up have boosted in-depth and extensive international cooperation and exchanges between China and the rest of the world.Hence an increasing number of international training programmes, among which is one relevant to public finance. This project took place in London, based on the training programme organized by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Finance on "Public Finance and Performance Budgeting Management in the UK" in July,2018.The reporter served as a consecutive interpreter for one-week training activities, including whole-day lectures and business visits. In the course of the interpreting project, the reporter encountered a number of difficulties, which she summarized into the following three types. The first was the deficiency in public-finance related knowledge, which led to omission and distortion of information;the second was the negative note-taking interference with listening comprehension and consequently the interpretation;and the third concerned the delivery and the language organization.Based on the analysis of specific examples and drawing upon studies and reflections of experts in this field, the reporter came up with a number of solutions.Firstly, the reporter should establish a knowledge network of public finance and enhance her intercultural competence;secondly, under the guidance of Gile's Effort Model, the reporter should improve her ability to coordinate different efforts, learn to better allocate attention, and simplify notes,so as to get rid of the over-reliance on notes;and thirdly, the reporter should intentionally learn to free herself from the linear linguistic expression, and improve her presentation skills. The problems and reflections detailed in this report will provide assistance for the future interpreters in their practice.
