Compared with the fast theoretical advances in CI note-taking,the empirical study of relevancy between CI note-taking and CI quality is still lagging behind. Therefore, this report focuses on the effect of note-taking on interpreting quality in C-E CI for student interpreters through an experiment.Taking 16 student interpreters as subjects randomly in two groups.Testing by same material,Group A conducts C-E CI with note-taking while Group B without. The report focuses on differences on interpreting quality including accuracy, fluency, grammatical correctness and pronunciation and intonation. It also analyzes the connection between note-taking quantity, form and interpreting quality. The data manifests that note-taking in C-E CI for student interpreters will remarkably contributes to the interpreting quality in accuracy and fluency, while it has no notable relevancy with grammatical correctness and pronunciation and intonation.Besides, the experiment finds no outstanding relevancy between the note-taking quantity,note-taking choice and interpreting quality. The use of symbols in C-E CI has a positive correlation with interpreting quality for student interpreters. At last,it is important to be pointed out that this experiment is the preliminary empirical study of this field, thus it awaits further exploration.
