The issue of dealing with interpreting anxiety has attracted attention of scholars, interpreters and interpreting trainees in recent years.Interpreting anxiety is a big problem in consecutive interpreting, because of the characteristics of consecutive interpreting, such as bilingualism, simultaneity, comprehension, memory, and input variables. It has been found that interpreting anxiety is much higher than other language learning anxieties, and interpreters are required to have excellent memory and skillful note-taking abilities in consecutive interpreting. However, there are not many researches on interpreting anxiety in consecutive interpreting. Therefore, conducting a study on the interpreting strategies based on interpreting anxiety and note-taking has great implications. This study discusses how to deal with interpreting anxiety from perspectives of consecutive interpreting process, memory and note-taking.The data in this study comes from a seminar in which the author works as a consecutive interpreter. And this study uses both quantitative and qualitative methods.Besides, the note-taking analyses are conducted from three aspects: quantity of notes, contents of notes and source or target language used in notes.By analyses of cases,it is figured out that the target text under medium level of interpreting anxiety is more complete, consistent, faithful, accurate and fluent than that of under high level of interpreting anxiety. At last,in accordance with features of the note-taking,three suggestions for dealing with high level of interpreting anxiety through note-taking are proposed, including taking down effective notes, writing down more symbols and abbreviations instead of specific words and using both source language and target language in note-taking.
