Senior One is the first year when the junior high school graduates enter senior high school and also a transition period between the junior high school study and the senior high school study.When the students enter senior high school,the changes of their physical and mental development,studying environment,the teachers' teaching method and so on bring great challenges to their study and life.Besides,due to the complexity of the students,there are big differences lying among them,including the students' English abilities,studying habits and self-management abilities,all of which increase the difficulties of Senior One English classroom management.Taking High School Y and S of Yangjiang as samples and using modern classroom management theories like Core Literacy Theory,Reality Therapy Theory,and Humanism Theory,this paper analyzes the main problems existing in Senior One English classroom management and the causes,then puts out targeted countermeasures.This paper firstly sets forth the research backgrounds,purposes,meanings,introduces the research methods and thought,then teases the current researching situation of classroom management at home and abroad,and at the same time expounds the theoretical bases and defines the core conceptions,which provides the necessary theoretical preparation for further research.Whereafter,with the hope of finding the present problems existing in Senior One English classroom management,the researcher made an investigation of the English classroom management in these two schools in Yangjiang by the way of questionnaire and interview from three dimensions,which are cognition,emotional acceptance and actions of classroom managementThrough analyzing the results,the researcher found that there are six main problems lying in English classroom management,which can be roughly divided into three dimensions: cognition,emotional acceptance and actions of classroom management.The problems of cognition are that the teachers and students differ on their opinions on classroom management and that both the teachers and the students have an incomplete understanding of the classroom management.The problems of emotional acceptance includes the dreary classroom climate and the teachers' ignorance of the students' emotional development,and problems of action aspect are too many problem behaviors in class and the bald teaching method.According to results of the surveys,the research used the modern classroom management theories like Core Literacy Theory,Bold Discipline Theory,and Humanism Theory to analyze the problems and concluded that the major causes can also be classified into three aspects: the teachers,the students and the school.There are seven causes of the teacher and they are as follows:(1)views of the classroom management are outmoded;(2)the classroom discipline and rules are arbitrary;(3)the teachers and the students lack effective communication;(4)the classroom environment is depressing and cramped;(5)the linking of the Junior High School English and Senior High School English is not smooth;(6)the methods of classroom management are too stiff;(7)the teaching abilities need to be enhanced.Then weak awareness of self-management,a low interest in English studying and lack of self-management ability are causes of the students.At the same time,causes belonging to the school are lack of home-school cooperation and irrationality of the evaluation mechanism.Finally,according to the existing problems in Senior One English classroom management,the researcher put forward the following targeted countermeasures which can help to enhance the efficiency of English classroom management.The teachers should renew their ideas about classroom management,establish democratic and reasonable classroom disciplines and regulations,pay more positive attention to the psychological characteristics of the Senior One students,build effective teacher-student relations and student-student relations,creative a harmonious classroom atmosphere,try to achieve an unhindered transition of the junior high school English and senior high school English,adopt flexible methods to manage the English class,and improve their professional levels;the schools should improve the evaluation mechanism,control the size of class and strengthen the home-school cooperation.
