“Jiu” is a very complex and commonly used function word in modern Chinese.It is both a focus and a difficult point in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.According to HSK’s dynamic composition Corpus statistics,the word “Jiu” has appeared for 11224 times and “Jiu Shi” for 4625 times,and their error rate is also higher than other words.At present,the interpretation of these two words is not uniform in standards and the meaning analysis is not accurate enough,which has brought many inconveniences to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language and also has a direct impact on the teaching effect of Chinese as a foreign language.This thesis aims to satisfy the teaching needs of Chinese teaching as a foreign language by summarizing the common meanings of “Jiu” and “Jiu Shi” in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,and analyzing the grammar,semantics,and pragmatics of each word.At the same time,this thesis also provides an example for the refinement study of modern Chinese.This thesis is divided into four chapters,which is mainly discussed and explored from the following aspects.Introduction briefly introduces the research background,research significance,research status,research methods and the sources of Corpus.Chapter One mainly analyzes and summarizes the function words “Jiu” and “Jiu Shi” from the perspective of part of speech.It firstly analyzes and summarizes the function word “Jiu” as adverb,preposition and conjunction from the perspective of syntax,semantics and pragmatics respectively and then the function word “Jiu Shi” as an adverb,preposition and modal particle is also analyzed.Finally,the common and different points between the two words are obtained.Chapter Two mainly analyzes the errors of the function words “Jiu” and “Jiu Shi” in combination with the HSK corpus.First,it analyzes the main error types of the function words “Jiu” and divides them into grammatical type,semantic and pragmatic type,and writing errors.Among them,grammatical type is further divided into the type of misuse,deletion,addition,and disorder.Then it analyzes the main error types of the function word “Jiu Shi”.In the syntactic format level,there are four kinds of error types: misuse,deletion,addition,and disorder.In terms of semantics and pragmatics level,it mainly analyzes from the aspects of semantic direction,expression center,subjective variable,and textual cohesion.Chapter Three mainly discusses the reasons for errors and teaching countermeasures of “Jiu” and “Jiu Shi”.First is the cause of the error analysis of the function words “Jiu” and “Jiu Shi”,which is discussed from three aspects: the first is the complexity of the Chinese function word itself,the second is over-generalization,and the third is the learning and communication strategies.Next,this chapter puts forward teaching suggestions from three aspects: the first is about the textbook compilation,the second is about students’ learning,and the third about teachers.
