This is a translation project report.The source text is On Edge A Journey Through Anxiety by Andrea Peterson.The chosen part to be translated is the fifth chapter of this book and it describes the author’s personal experience on taking anti-anxiety medicine and the science behind anxiety disorders as well as its medication treatment.Anxiety disorder,also known as anxiety neurosis,is the most common type of neurosis,and it is expected to become the world’s largest burden disease in the future,so it deserves attention around the world.The source text of this translation report mainly introduces the author’s experience in taking anti-anxiety drugs and the background of the development of anti-anxiety and anti-depressive drugs.The difficulties in this translation project mainly focus on the translation of long and complex sentences and terminology and abbreviation.The author chooses Skopos Theory as the translation theory and mainly applies translation techniques such as zero translation,lexical conversion,amplification and omission,sentence division and shifting to address these translation difficulties.
