This is a report on the translation of chapter four of Lyme: The First Epidemic of Climate Change written by Mary Beth Pfeiffer. The book holds that Lyme,a disease caused by ticks under the influence of climate change, has become a global health issue. The selected chapter for translation, chapter four of this book, describes the Lyme disease policy in the United States, its current situation, and the experiences endured by those who oppose the traditional Lyme disease concept which is embraced by the mainstream medicine led by government authorities.Under the guidance of Skopos theory put forward by Hans Vermeer, the translator intends to faithfully and smoothly reproduce the true situation of Lyme disease described by the original author, aiming at arousing public attention and correcting the understanding of Lyme disease. The source text, which is a popular science book that is one of the science and technology text, conveys scientific knowledge in plain scientific and logical words. Thus, the difficulties, encountered by the translator in the translating process, are the expressions representing the linguistic features above, like terms, complex sentences and parentheses. In view of the above difficulties, the translator adopts translation methods such as literal translation plus annotation, division, restructuring and embedding to make the translation faithful and readable.
