The translation project is selected from the first chapter of Society and the Environment:Pragmatic Solutions to Ecological Issues published in January 2013. This book doesn’t only analyze the various underlying causes of environmental problems but also provides the universal applicable solutions to the environmental problems which have a high reference value for an effective response to the current problems facing the environment. At the same time, the book also has been used as one of the environmental sociology textbooks and listed in the required reading list. The main contents of this report can be divided into four parts:first, the introduction of the project. Second, the background information of the translation project, including theoretical foundation, introduction of the excerpt and project assignment. The theoretical basis for the translation is skopos theory. Third, obstacles in the project:the selected chapter focuses on the current status of environmental sociology. For the accuracy of the translation, the translator needs to access a large number of related books in Chinese. Fourth, conclusion:the translator summarized inspiration and lessons in the translation process.
