Abstract/Summary:
School life is an important period for the formation of students’ world view and the view of values,as well as a special time for the cultivation of mental health. No matter the classroom teaching, mental health education and other forms of teaching, they will bring well-being to the new generation of students. As a result, the importance of education is constantly increasing worldwide and various educational resources are shared,of which the translation of educational texts plays an important role in promoting educational and cultural exchanges. In addition, considering that Nida’s "Functional Equivalence Theory" has a far-reaching influence in Chinese and even the global translation region. Therefore, under the guidance of this theory,I have analyzed the text Mental health promotion and problem prevention in schools: what does the evidence say? and after that I have finalized this translation practice report discuss the basic forms and key points of the translation of educational texts. This paper mainly includes four parts. The first part is the main introduction of the research background and purpose. The second part is the selection and introduction of translation theory, namely the analytic and guiding significance of functional equivalence theory. The third part is the description of translation process, including pre-translation preparation and text analysis. The fourth part is translation case study, which mainly combines the theory with the translation of pedagogical terms and different parts of speech and explores the intervention measures in the guidance of students’ mental health. In terms of the translation of pedagogical terms,I mainly considered the translation purpose, context, target readers and other factors, analyzed the direct meaning of the words themselves first, and then analyzes the meaning in the source text through the context of the article,so as to remove cultural barriers to the maximum extent and let the target readers have the same reading experience as the source text readers. The translation of words with different parts of speech is mainly to explore the deep meaning of simple sentences or long and difficult sentences in order to achieve a higher translation effect. In the end, under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,I used different methods of translation and translation strategies to solve a lot of problems.
