Mental health disorders pose a serious threat to people’s health.In this aspect,the World Health Organization and governments attach great importance to the prevention and treatment of mental health disorders,and actively take effective measures to guard against and cure mental health diseases.Handbook of Rural School Mental Health published by the Springer in 2018 belongs to the scientific and technical text,which gives a detailed account of clinical manifestations,disease diagnosis,prevention and treatment of mental health disorders.The source text is featured by objectiveness,preciseness and accuracy.The United States has much experience in researching mental health disorders,and a striking effect has been achieved.Therefore,it is necessary to study and learn from foreign research achievements.Chapter one and chapter two of Handbook of Rural School Mental Health are selected as the translation practice by the translator.It is divided into four chapters.Chapter one is the task description,including the introduction of the source text,the generalization of textual features,and the significance of the source text.Chapter two describes the process of the translation task in which the preparations before translation,duration of the task and quality control.Chapter three is case analysis,which plays a central role in the translation practice report.Under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,the translator analyzes the source text at the lexical,syntactic and discourse level with relevant translation strategies.Chapter four is the conclusion of the translation practice,which summaries the experience and some unsolved problems in the translation process.Through the process of writing this translation practice report,more knowledge about mental health education is acquired by the translator in line with linguistic features of the scientific and technical text,and the translated text has provided some reference information for Chinese psychologists and educators.
