With the rapid development and wide spread application of information technology, educational informatization has been the tendency of Chinese education and transnational cooperation and exchange in educational information technology are becoming more frequent. Therefore, literature translation in this field,as an important part of the national informatization strategy, requires translators not only to renew their knowledge continuously and master new terminologies on time, but also to be rigid and terse in wording and logical in writing, aiming to make the response of target readers to the target text almost the same as that of source readers to the source text.Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory believes that the purpose of functional equivalence is to achieve a high degree of equivalence between the target text and the source text so as to make the response of the target audience or readers be basically consistent with that of the source audience or readers when understanding and appreciating the source text.Although this is an ideal state,it can be regarded as the goal of translation practice. The translator should make the translated text close to the source text as far as possible. The author of the report uses Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory as the guide to conduct translation research and practice. With Chapter Five of the book Application of Educational Information Technology in College as the source text, the author of this report makes a systematic analysis of its stylistic features and the problems encountered in the translation of the educational information technology text under the guidance of Nida’s Functional Equivalence, using various research methods such as comparative analysis, illustration, induction and summary and summarizes the corresponding translation strategies, aiming to achieve information symmetry in the C-E translation of educational information technology texts. In this report, the author describes the translation task and translation procedure, expounds Functional Equivalence Theory from four aspects:lexical equivalence, syntactic equivalence, textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence, analyzes the stylistic features of the source text from lexical level, syntactic level and textual level and explores the corresponding translation strategies in the case study, and summarizes the major findings and limitations of the study in translation practice. The study shows that Functional Equivalence can guide the translation practice of educational information technology text effectively, whose findings may be of some reference for the translation of similar texts, and helps to achieve the functional equivalence between the source text as well as to improve the translation quality.
