In the 3th year of Qianlong(1738),the pasture of eight banners in Suiyuan city was awarded to Suiyuan's officers and soldiers for grazing.Starting from the middle age of Qing dynasty,the pasture had been reclaimed successively for 4 times during the 60 th year of Qianlong(1795),the 2th year of Jiaqing(1797),the 12 th year of Jiaqing(1806)and the 14 th year of Jiaqing(1809)respectively as a result of the emergence of some problems including farmers' private reclamation and the eight banners' livelihood.Consequently,the areas of pasture which had been reclaimed,were over 7745.505 qing.In the 28 th of Guangxu(1902),the pasture of eight banners in Suiyuan city had been a new stage of reclamation following the enforcement of the full reclamation policy in Inner Mongolia.However,based on the barren lands,the thing is not goinng well.Consequently,only 3786.278 qing to be reclaimed until Yigu's resignation because of his crime.The pasture of eight banners in Suiyuan city had basically achieve the transformation from the official pasture to private farmland after several times of reclamation.The article contains primarily three parts.Chapter one mainly illustrate and prove not only the source and the system of the Suiyuan's eight banners in garrison,but also the establishment,the area,the function,the reason to reclaim,reclamation time and the reclamation area of the pasture of eight banners in Suiyuan city.In the chapter two,there is a summary on rent's debt of the pasture of eight banners in Suiyuan city which were reclaimed.At the same time,this chapter also expound the reason for debt,the way to settle and its purpose of the pasture's rent.Chapter three make a further argument on the reclamation of the pasture from the 28 th year of Guangxu(1902)to the 34 th year of Guangxu(1908),in addition to a serial of problems such as the reason to reclaim,specific measures,consequences and influences.In the end,there is a simple conclusion for the whole paper.More significantly,it further conclud that,in some degree,the transition of the pasture of eight banners in Suiyuan city is a epitome of every pasture's change in the frontier areas of Qing dynasty.
