As a new teaching method newly introduced in China,the picture book teaching is mainly aimed at children and primary school students.The story of the picture books can be conveyed to the readers through colorful graphic combination.The story-based features of the picture books can create a three-dimensional knowledge learning environment for students.In the process of teaching English picture books,not only can students’ interest points be attracted,but also the students’ thinking ability and creativity can be enhanced.Guided teaching promotes students’ divergent thinking and improves students’ enthusiasm for learning as well as cultivating students’ learning literacy.Different from textbook teaching,picture book teaching,changing the traditional single-word teaching form,and using the rich story to build a story-like plot,not only makes the teaching form changeable,but also teaches students knowledge in the story.The teaching methods of picture book teaching are various,which creates a pleasant classroom English learning environment for students and enhances their interest in learning.The concentration and persistence of the students’ learning have been greatly improved.The implementation of English picture book teaching is not only a test of English subjects,but also a test for teachers’ teaching effects.It is necessary to break the tradition and actively innovate so that picture books play the most important role in primary school English teaching.However,there are still many problems to be solved in the teaching of English picture books.The unscientific choice of picture books,the unclear teaching objectives,and the using of the traditional textbook teaching methods by some teachers in the picture book teaching may not exert the influence of picture book teaching methods with reducing the learning efficiency of students.In order to solve the problems in the picture book teaching,this study takes the students and teachers of the first and second grades of a primary school in Shenyang as the investigation target.Through referring to the “classroom recording”,“the questionnaire of the influence of picture book teaching on students and teachers” and the interview records of the teachers and principals,it can understand the teaching situation of the current school picture book teaching.It is expected to provide experience for other schools that implement English picture book teaching through the action research on theclassroom under the picture book teaching,combined with the problems encountered in the current picture book teaching in the popularization process and the teaching reflections from the school teachers and students and parents.Through the investigation and analysis of the implementation of the English picture book teaching classroom in a primary school in Shenyang,this study differs form the traditional textbook teaching methods from the aspects of the formulation of the goal to the selection of teaching activities,design and implementation.In the process of teaching English picture books,teachers reasonably develop the combination of graphic teaching methods,and use various ways to fully mobilize students,so that students can enjoy English picture book lessons in a relaxing and pleasant environment.The picture book teaching can stimulate students’ enthusiasm for learning English and enhance their comprehensive quality and develop their multifaceted abilities. |
