With the continuous development of English education in China,the teaching of English picture book reading has gradually become an important part of primary school English teaching.However,in the actual teaching process,frontline teachers are faced with many problems and challenges.To a certain extent,these problems have hindered the development of English picture book teaching.This paper takes Changsha Y Primary School in Hunan Province as an example,and uses questionnaires and interviews to study the status of primary school English picture book reading teaching and proposes optimization strategies.This paper has five parts.The first part is the introduction.On the basis of reviewing the literature review at home and abroad,the literature research method is used to understand the related research on the reading teaching of primary school English picture book,and the purpose,significance,content and method of the reading teaching of picture book are expounded.The second part is the relevant theory of this paper.Firstly,the concept of picture book and picture book reading is defined,and the connotation and characteristics of picture book teaching are analyzed.Finally,the second language acquisition theory,constructivist learningtheory and situational cognitive theory are introduced.In the third part,through the interview survey of English teachers and the questionnaire survey of students,the teacher's understanding of the reading teaching and the implementation of teaching were obtained.It was found that there were many problems and needed to be improved.The fourth part is the optimization strategy of reading teaching in the English picture book of Changsha Y Primary School in Hunan Province.According to the problems reflected in the survey,through the analysis of typical cases,the corresponding optimization strategies are proposed for the teaching objectives,teaching content,teaching mode and teaching evaluation.The last part summarizes and forecasts the research content of the thesis.The thesis studies the teaching of English picture book reading,and provides suggestions for the teacher's teaching,helping students to learn English language more comprehensively and effectively,and understand the charm of language.
