The interpreter of this report conducted simulated Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation of the Sixth "Be Myself" Forum. In this simulated C-E simultaneous interpretation, speakers generated some redundant information in the process of speaking at a high speed, which caused difficulties in the process of interpreting. The interpreter has classified the difficulty of dealing with redundancy into three kinds:(1)difficulty in interpreting redundancy on semantic level;(2)difficulty in interpreting redundancy on contextual level;(3)difficulty in interpreting redundancy on cultural level. The Interpretive Theory established by Danica Seleskovitch holds the view that interpretation is human communication firstly. In natural communication activities, language plays a major role as a tool. Therefore,it is emphasized that interpretation is not a task on words or languages, but a task on message or sense. The core concept is that what interpreters understand, interpret and express is the meaning and thought that the speaker wants to express, and the interpreter's central task is understanding, deverbalization and expression. In the interpretation, the interpreter proposed three solutions based on the Interpretive Theory in order to quickly grasp the actual information:(1)generalization for redundancy on semantic level;(2)omission for redundancy on contextual level;(3)replacement for redundancy on cultural level. This report proposes three solutions to interpreting redundancy in the speech, having a try to provide some useful reference to other simultaneous interpreters in efficiently dealing with redundancy in the speech.
