| The author attended“the Third National Academic Seminar on Wang Rongpei’s English Translation of Chinese Classics&the High-level Forum on Translation Studies of Chinese Literary and Cultural Classics”on January 11th,2019.Mr.Wang Rongpei is an expert in the translation of Chinese classics.The purpose of holding the seminar is to inherit his translation ideas and to discuss how to spread traditional Chinese culture to the world through interpreting Chinese classics based on the achievements and research of Wang Rongpei.Chinese classical culture is the main carrier of English translation of Chinese classics.Therefore,this interpreting practice report,based on the speech that researched the translation strategy by taking the Chinese Classics the Book of Zhuangzi and Peony Pavilion as examples,is accomplished independently.This practice report introduced the background of interpreting practice materials and the meaning of the topic,described the entire interpreting process and drew on the interpretive theory proposed by French interpreting expert Danica Seleskovic in the late1960s,in order to achieve a better interpreting effect through the combination of theory and practice.Finally,it summarized the difficulties and solutions encountered in the whole interpreting process to provide reference for future practice.In this interpreting practice process,the author found that the original text had ambiguity,repeated semantics,lack of subject,excess terminology and other problems,which greatly increased interpreting difficulty.Therefore,under the theoretical framework of interpretive theory,the author summarized the difficulties encountered and adopted solutions in detail.In the process of simultaneous interpreting,the author adopted revision method to solve semantic ambiguity.On the premise of not changing the meaning of translation,the author used the amplification and omission method to split long sentences or make up for the lack of semantics so as to make the expression more complete and concise.In addition,there are too many professional terms in original speech,which may be not understood by some readers.The author adopted interpretative translation method to make the sentences easy to understand.The reasons why the author chose this topic were because,on the one hand,by interpreting the material related to Chinese culture,the author can further understand the English translation style of Chinese classics,learn the translation thoughts and methods of predecessors and improve the interpretation and translation skills.On the other hand,the content of the material selected in this practice report is about the Chinese classical masterpiece Zhuangzi and Chinese classical drama Peony Pavilion.Therefore,the author also hopes this interpreting practice,to some extent,can help people to know Chinese Classics and recognize the inner thoughts the texts wanted to express. |
