Because of factors like Chinese notion of education,the research on infant and early childhood mental health doesn't receive due attention in our country.Psychological texts play an essential role in understanding the development of psychology.And through reading psychological texts on children,parents and employees in the childcare industry in China will be familiar with characteristics and patterns of infant psychological development and attach importance to children psychology.The translation task,Research and Practice in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health,is a psychological text which systematically and comprehensively explains the development of infant and early childhood mental health and provides some cases to help parents and employees in the childcare industry know more about children psychology.At the request of a publishing house,a Chinese version of Research and Practice in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health is needed to improve the social cognition of infant and early childhood mental health in China.The initiator requires that the translation be accurate,readable and consistent with conventional expressions in the field of psychology.Therefore,the major focus of the translation is to achieve that new communicative purpose in the culture of the target language.For this reason,instrumental translation is chosen as the strategy.The theoretical basis of this translation practice is the model for translation-oriented text analysis put forward by Christiane Nord.To help parents and employees in the childcare industry in China get related information about and pay enough attention to infant and early childhood mental health,intratextual factors such as subject matter and content,presuppositions and sentence structure are analyzed to render an equivalent translation.
