The surrogate models and Mixture of Experts methods have creatively promoted and enriched the development of multidisciplinary design in aerospace.Due to the late start,the academic community in China seriously needs to learn from the relevant international research results,which would require even higher quality translations.Therefore,it is imperative to improve the quality of scientific and technical translation.This report mainly discusses the English-Chinese translation of “Surrogate Models and Mixtures of Experts in Aerodynamic Performance Prediction for Mission Analysis”(Excerpt).With the application of Peter Newmark’s Correlative Approach to Translation,this report looks into the translation strategies of technical texts lexically,grammatically and textually.In the case analysis,it discusses in detail the application of translation theories,methods and strategies in the translation practice.Lexically,translators need to reasonably convert and omit the vocabulary of the source texts according to the characteristics of the text,lexical collocations,contexts and even cultural differences.In particular,it is essential to translate terms in the technical texts accurately.Grammatically,due to the differences between English and Chinese,translators should adjust the grammatical structure,such as the adjustment of word orders,the transformation of the voice and the division of long sentences.Textually,logical cohesion and semantic explication achieve the coherence and cohesion of the translation,which leads to the textual closeness.In EST translation,translators should be fully aware of the great differences between English and Chinese,and adopt flexible translation strategies and techniques on the basis of understanding of source texts,thus realizing the closeness of the translation lexically,grammatically and textually.The author hopes that this paper can provide some valuable experience for the EST translation. |
