| This paper is a translation report.The source text is excepted from the first three chapters of children’s literature collection My Father’s Cat: My Father’s Cat,Hazeman and Old Train.The translation is finished under the guidance of Reception Aesthetics.The crucial parts of the theory are reader-oriented and horizon of expectation.According to the theory,in the process of translation,readers have always been put in the first place.The translator should take target reader’s age,cultural background,etc.into consideration and translate a version that could be accepted and appreciated by them.As a specific reading group,children have their unique reading features.Therefore,in the process of translation,the translator should take children’s reading features and acceptability into consideration.Besides,their horizon of expectation should be satisfied.Only in this way,a readable and acceptable work that is corresponding to children’s reading features and accurately conveys the contents of the source text could be done.This report consists of four parts.The first part is task description,including the introduction of the background,objective,significance,and structure of the translation task.The following part is the illustration of the translation process,which is divided into three parts: translation preparation,translation stage and post-translation management.The third part is the case study,which is the most important part of the report.It mainly gives some examples to the translation of some typical words and sentences under the guidance of Reception Aesthetics.The last part is the conclusion of the translation report,including what the translator has learned and some deficiencies. |
