| This thesis is a practice report on the translation of Promoting Student Mental Health: A Guide for UC Faculty and Staff.The original text is a mental health guide book for faculty and staff of the University of California,aiming at helping them to understand students’ mental health problems.This practice report is divided into five chapters,which respectively are task description,process description,preparations for translation,case analysis and summary.Chapter One is a brief description of the background,content,requirements and completion of this translation task.Chapter Two is process description,which includes task acception,translation implementation and translation revision.Chapter Three gives a brief introduction to the preparations for translation,including information collection,analysis of the source text,the use of translation tools,and guiding principles of the translation.And Chapter Four is case analysis,where the translator analyzes the cases from the translation of words,long sentences and formal subject structure,and discusses how to make use of translation methods to make the translation better,based on the three translation rules in Skopos theory.Chapter Five is a summary,which focuses on the enlightenment and problems of the translation practice,and it provides experience in the future translation tasks of the translator. |
