Report On The Translation Of The Process Of Urbanization And Its Eco-environmental Effect In Typical Region Of China(Excerpt)

To promote urbanization is of great significance for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and accelerating socialist modernization.Under the background of more and more frequent academic exchanges in the world,it is necessary to disseminate the academic works on urbanization which is an important part of understanding China’s modern development.For this reason,the author selects few chapters from The Process of Urbanization and Its Eco-environmental Effect in Typical Region of China as the content of translation task to explore the problems in the translation process and put forward corresponding methods,which enables target readers to read the content more smoothly and know the development of urbanization in China.The report is divided into five parts.Firstly,the author introduces the background,the purpose and significance of the task.Secondly,the translation task is described in detail,including the description of the source text,the analysis of the text features and theoretical guidance.In addition,the author describes the process of translation.Then the author analyzes the problems encountered in the translation process with cases and proposes corresponding translation methods.Finally,there is a conclusion of the translation task,including results,limitations and prospects for the future.Through this Chinese-English translation task,the author reviews the linguistic features of academic texts and summarizes translation methods for proper nouns and collocations at the lexical level,sentences without subjects,long sentences with multiple predicates and sentences with complex modifiers at the syntactic level and provides two coherent means at the textual level with the guidance of functional equivalence theory.These strategies and means provide some references in the Chinese-English translation of academic texts and are conducive to the promotion of academic exchanges in the field of urban and environment.
