A Study On The Problems And Methods Of C-E Translation Of The Academic Text On Finance

Recent decades have seen rapid growth of international trade and global economy,and the constantly changing international economic situation.The academic text on finance plays an important role in academic exchanges in the financial field.The selected translation material of this report is an academic text on finance titled “Geographical distance,investment strategies and performance of venture capital firms(VCFs): Evidence from China”.Guided by the theory of functional equivalence,this paper summarizes the difficulties encountered in translation practice and explores their solutions in order to accurately convey the content of the source text.This practice report consists of four parts.Firstly,the author makes a systematic introduction to the project,including the background,purpose and significance of the translation task.Secondly,after analyzing the characteristics of the source text,it points out the translation difficulties in terms of words,sentences and texts,such as terminologies,category words,and non-subject sentences,long and difficult sentences.Then,under the guidance of functional equivalence theory,the author illustrates the translation methods and skills used in this translation practice through specific case analysis.In terms of words,literal translation and back translation method are adopted.At the sentence level,the author adopts the translation skills of addition,voice transformation,division,adjusting word order and combination.At the text level,the author uses reference and adding cohesive device to better cohere text.Finally,the author summarizes and reflects on the translation practice.
