Based on the Functional Equivalence Theory,this paper chooses the second and third chapters of EFL Teachers’ Beliefs about Reading and Reading Teaching versus Actual Practices as the traslated text.By analyzing the stylistic features of academic texts from the lexical,syntactic and discourse levels,this paper aims to explore effective translation methods that make the translation precise and realize the academic communication function of academic text translation,hoping to provide certain reference and guidance for academic text translation in the same field.At lexical level,the author proposed word addition and subtraction,word formation,substitution conversion as the translation methods;at syntactic level,the author proposed word order adjustment,merging and splitting,changing from passive to active,ellipsis and complement,and symbol conversion as the translation methods;at discourse level,the author proposed cohesion and coherence adjustment as the translation methods.Functional Equivalence Theory can help restore the rigor and accuracy of academic texts,reduce the reading comprehension obstacles of academic readers,help them obtain the original information,and finally realize the communication function of academic texts.Through this translation practice,the author finds the guiding role of Functional Equivalence Theory in academic text translation.Different translation methods can be used to enhance the logic and readability of academic texts,improve the translation quality and realize the communication function of academic texts from the lexical,syntactic and discourse levels. |
