The annotation of new words is an important aspect of teaching materials for Chinese as a foreign language.The annotation of new words affects the student's understanding and mastery of new words to a certain extent.Therefore,it is very meaningful to study the annotation of new words.This article selected the Chinese Course(3rd edition)edited by Yang Jizhou as the research object,and mainly studied the annotation of new word(1-3 volumes).The article consists of four chapters.The first chapter mainly researches the quantity of new words,the order of new words,the part-of-speech labeling of new words and the annotation language.The second chapter is the ways of annotation.It is mainly classified 3 categories,according to whether Chinese words have English equivalents or not.The third chapter analyses whether the annotation of new words is reasonable or not.According to semantics,pragmatics,grammar,culture and so on,author classifies the new words that are not reasonable and researches that which aspect of the word is outstanding.The fourth chapter is based on the three parts and putted forward some suggestions for the preparation of the textbook.In general,the advantages of the Chinese annotation are obvious: The annotation language is very concise and practical;the number of annotated words is also relatively suitable;the annotation method is flexible,especially one-to-many.English interpretation can basically convey the meaning of words.But there are still some problems:On the compilation of New words in textbooks,the order of new words writing is relatively rigid.It is proposed to use a more flexible way of writing,such as arranging according to meaning correlation or part of speech correlation,so that learners can easily find and memorize new words.There is no example sentence in the annotation,which is not good for the students to comprehend and master the words.It is therefore suggested that the example sentence should be added to the annotation style.In the way of annotation,the words without English equivalents are mainly interpreted definition or explained usage,and they are not vivid enough.When weexplain the words without English equivalents,it is suggested that a variety of interpretation methods should be combined,such as adding pictures or caricature on explanation of definition,or applying formula method on explanation of usage.From the content of annotation,the problems in semantic and grammatical aspects are more serious,and the problems in pragmatic and cultural aspects are relatively less serious.In the semantic aspect,one is that the annotated words do not accord with the meaning of the new words in the text,the other is that the annotated words do not correspond to the meaning of the new words.In grammar,some of the part-of-speech are incorrectly marked;some of these morphemes that are not used alone should be noted.Some verbs cannot be followed by an object,some adverbs can only be used for sustainable actions,or some words imply tense and so on,should be explained or noted.Finally,aiming at the problems of annotation of new words,the author put forward some suggestions for the compilation of textbooks and vocabulary teaching in class and hope that the relevant suggestions can play a positive role in the cause of Chinese as a foreign language.
