A Preliminary Approach To Beat Furrer's The Concerto For Piano And Orchestra

This paper looks at the work of Beat Furrer,the composer of The Concerto for Piano and Orchestra(2007),as known as Konzert fur Klavier und Orchester.The purpose of this paper is to identify the characteristics of composition techniques and the principles of structure of the work through the summarization and analysis of its core music material,features of sound composition and music structure.The paper is composed of four chapters and further elaborated by means of analyzing,summarizing combined with examples of sheet music of The Concerto for Piano and Orchestra.The first chapter mainly includes the composer's life experience,music concept,division of composition period and introduction of other information related to the work.The second chapter analyzes the core material of the work from the perspectives of sound form,pitch structure,rhythm and tempo,etc.The third chapter elaborates and summarizes the composition techniques including the composition features of various groups of instruments,timbre-sound structure,etc.The fourth chapter concludes the foregoing analyses,and further explores and examines the features of music structure from general arrangement to details of the work.
