ObjectiveTo investigate male nurses'risk perception level, and to analyze the influencing factors,in order to provide theoretical basis for taking intervention measures to improve the risk perception level of male nurses and reduce clinical riskMethodFrom May 2018 to December 2018,351 male nurses from five first-class hospitals in Jinan were investigated with the risk perception questionnaire, big five personality simplified scale, positive and negative emotion scale, nursing work environment scale and safety organization scale. The data were sorted out and analyzed by SPSS 19.0Results1.Current situation of male nurses' risk perceptionThe overall risk perception score of male nurses was 58.17%,which was in the middle level. The top three dimensions were occupational exposure risk(61.82%),time risk(60.68%)and organizational factor risk(59.25%).Sixty-five people(18.5%)had a low level of risk perception,242 people(69%)had a medium level of risk perception, and 44 people(12.5%)had a high level of risk perception.2.The difference of risk perception level of male nurses with different social demographic data. The risk perception level of male nurses aged?25 was significantly lower than that of those aged 26-30 years and>30 years(P<0.001).In terms of their ability to perceive risk, the level of risk perception of male nurses with spouse was significantly higher than that of those without spouse(P<0.001).Male caregivers ability to perceive risk was significantly lower than that of associate caregivers, professional caregivers, senior nurses, and above(P<0.001).With the increase of professional titles, the risk perception level increased. In terms of working hours, the following five years of male nurses perceived risk ability significantly, compared with six to ten years and more than a decade of lower(P<0.001),the risk awareness is also reflected in the work of departments, such as the risk perception level of male nurses in psychiatric department was significantly higher than that in internal medicine, surgery,ICU and emergency department. The risk perception level of male nurses in operating room was significantly higher than that in internal medicine and ICU(P<0.05).3.In the big five personality, extroversion and openness were negatively correlated with male nurses' risk perception(r=-0.176,-0.156,P<0.01).Pleasure,rigor and neuroticism were positively correlated with male nurses' risk perception(r=0.404,0.444,0.087,P<0.01,<0.01,<0.05).Positive emotion was negatively correlated with male nurses' risk perception level(r=-0.463,P<0.01),and negative emotion was positively correlated with male nurses' risk perception level(r=0.406,P<0.01).In the nursing work environment scale, nurses' participation in hospital affairs,high-quality nursing service foundation, managers' ability and mode, sufficient human resources and medical cooperation were positively correlated with risk perception(r=0.194,0.307,0.214,0.259,0.307,P<0.01).The level of safety organization was positively correlated with the level of male nurses' risk perception(r=0,362,P<0.01)4.Multiple regression analysis showed that the influencing factors of male nurses' risk perception included age(26-30 years,>30years)(??0.251,0.255,P<0.001,=0.001);working years(6-10 years,>10years)(?=0.500,0.270,P<0.001);personality(openness,rigor)(?=0.145,0.105,P<0.001,=0.01),positive emotions(?=-0.257,P<0.001)and nursing work environment(Medical Cooperation)(?=0.094,P=0.015),which could explain 57.9%of the variance(R2=0.579)in male nurses' risk perception level.Conclusions1.Most male nurses had a medium level of risk perception, and about one-fifth of them are in a low level, which is in urgent need of improvement.Among the scores of risk perception, the top three are occupational exposure risk, time risk and organizational risk, which showed that male nurses are more sensitive to these three occupational risk perceptions.Nursing managers should focus on the risk management of male nurses with low risk perception,so as to improve their risk perception level and reduce the occurrence of risk events. In view of the more sensitive risk dimensions, they should take interventional measures2.Age(26-30 years old,>30years old),working years(6-10 years,>10years)positively affected the risk perception level.Nursing managers should develop a set of perfect and standardized training according to the corresponding age, working years,In order to improve the level of risk perception of male nurses,we should formulate a perfect and standardized training program and carry out hierarchical and individualized training for male nurses3.Among the personality traits, openness and preciseness had a positive effect on male nurses' risk perception. In their work, nursing managers should identify male nurses with different personalities, and achieve individualized and dynamic management.4.Positive emotion had positive effect on risk perception. In order to avoid the occurrence of risk events, nursing managers should identify the emotional characteristics of male nurses, and keep their emotional stability5.The level of risk perception of male nurses was positively affected by the cooperation of medical and nursing in nursing working environment.Nursing managers should create appropriate communication opportunities, encourage communication between medical and nursing staff, strengthen mutual understanding of the practice areas of both sides, promote medical and nursing cooperation,to improve male nurses' risk perception.
