ObjectiveQuantitative research explored the status quo of the vocational delay gratification level of male nurses in three level hospitals and internal relation between understanding social support,general self-efficacy and retention will through questionnaire survey.Qualitative research is based on the researchers themselves tools at the same time,in the natural situation,the male nurses holistic research in depth,comprehensive understanding of male nurses in three level hospitals vocational delay gratification form of experience,understanding of the behavior and significance to construct the explanatory,from another perspective to explore related factors that can affect male nurses vocational delay gratification.The purpose of this study is to enhance the willingness of male nurses to retain their posts,provide reference for male nurses to better plan their career,and provide theoretical basis for clinical nursing managers to take relevant measures to attract more male nurses to join the nursing industry and retain male nurses so as to actively maintain the stability of the whole nursing team.MethodsThis study analyzed the status quo and influencing factors of the vocational delay gratification level of male nurses in three level hospitals by combining quantitative research with qualitative research.Quantitative and qualitative studies were conducted through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews.1 Quantitative study:In December 2017 to May 2018 in strict accordance with the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria and based on the appropriate sample size calculation method is convenient to extract the Zhengzhou city large-scale integrated three level hospitals,240 registered professional male nurses as the research object,using a homemade "social demographic general information questionnaire","the vocational delay gratification questionnaire ","understanding social support scale","general self-efficacy scale","retention will scale Chinese version" the implementation of cross-sectional survey,understand the current urban large-scale integrated three level hospitals of Zhengzhou male nurse vocational delay gratification the status quo.The effects of general demographic data,understanding social support,general self-efficacy and retention intention on the vocational delay gratification of male nurses were analyzed,and the ways of action and contribution of various influencing factors were evaluated.EpiData3.1 double entry was used to establish the database,and SPSS21.0 statistical software was used for data analysis.The mean,standard deviation,number of cases and composition ratio were used for the basic description of the data.Two independent samples were used for t test and ANOVA test for single factor analysis.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between factors,and multiple linear regression analysis was used to implement multiple factor analysis.2 Qualitative research: The study of technology through phenomenology,in October 2018 to December,in the form of semi-structured interview to interview of male nurses,main content as follows: vocational delay gratification the level of understanding and the influencing factors of vocational delay gratification the level of high and low,the main influence factors and concrete is how to influence,professional level of retention will delay and the impact of career planning.Data were collected and analyzed at the same time.Colaizzi’s seven-step analysis method was used to analyze the first-hand information,and follow-up interviews were conducted based on the analysis results until the category and code were saturated.A total of 10 male nurses in the third-level first-class hospitals were interviewed,and Colaizzi’s seven-step analysis method was used to analyze the data.Results1 Vocational delay gratification score of male nurses in grade a hospitals of Henan province: the total mean score of vocational delay gratification is(21.58±3.26),which is on the average.Among the two dimensions,work delay(11.01±1.86)was the lowest score,followed by career delay(11.63±1.87).2 The results of univariate analysis showed that the vocational delay gratification of male nurses was statistically significant in terms of age,marital status,family origin,education level,administrative position,monthly income and working years in general demographic data(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the nature of employment,job title and night shift number(P>0.05).Further results were obtained by multiple linear regression analysis of marital status,family origin,administrative position,monthly income,perceived social support,general self-efficacy,and intention to stay significantly affect the professional delay satisfaction level of male nurses(P<0.05).3 The vocational delay gratification level of male nurses was positively correlated with retention intention(r=0.324,P<0.001),general self-efficacy(r=0.365,P<0.001)and perceived social support(r=0.316,P<0.001).4 According to the analysis of the interview data,the formation process of vocational delay gratification for male nurses in three level hospitals is complicated and long,and the formation of vocational delayed gratification is affected by many factors,such as professional choice experience,learning and internship experience,change of professional thoughts,career planning experience and strong intention to stay,etc.The problems mainly focus on four aspects: the lack of consideration in choosing a major,the opportunities and challenges faced by gender differences,professional cognition is biased,and the weak intention to retain a job.Conclusion1 The vocational delay gratification of male nurses in grade a hospitals of Henan province is of medium level,indicating that male nurses have a certain degree of professional disidentity.2 Marital status,family place of birth,administrative position,monthly income,perceived social support,general self-efficacy,and intention to stay are the main influencing factors for the delayed satisfaction of male nurses.3 The main problems in the formation process of male nurses’ delayed professional satisfaction are lack of professional consideration,opportunities and challenges faced by gender differences,professional cognition is biased,and weak intention to retain their posts.
