ObjectiveTo clarify the clinical efficacy of Head-acupuncture Therapy in the treatment of post-stroke depression in the Bilateral Foot Motor Sensory Area and Mental Emotion Area,as well as its influence on the ability of daily living activities and quality of life.And to provide new ideas for acupuncture in curing these diseases.MethodsIn this study,80 patients with post-stroke depression were randomized into the treatment group and control group.All patients received baseline therapy and anti-depression therapy with Paroxetine Hydrochloride Tablets.The treatment group was treated with Head-acupuncture Therapy in the Bilateral Foot Motor Sensory Area and Mental Emotion Area,and the control group was treated with shallow needling in non acupoints and non head-acupuncture area for 30 days.The general condition and baseline data of patients were recorded before the treatment.And the scores of HAMD-24 scales,FIM scales,WHOQO-BREF scales and the changes of Melancholia of Traditional Chinese Medicine were recorded before and after treatment.After treatment,SPSS 23.0 was used for data statistical analysis.Results1.This study finally enrolled 72 patients with PSD,including 36 in the treatment group and 36 in the control group.There was no significant difference in the levels of baseline data in both groups(P>0.05).The result show that the baseline data were comparable in both two groups.2.The curative effectiveness was assessed according to the reducing score rate of HAMD after treatment.The total effective rate was 91.7% in the treatment group and the other group was 69.4%.The difference had statistical significance in both groups(P<0.05).The results indicated that the treatment group was superior to the control group in the treatment of post-stroke depression.3.After treatment,the HAMD scores of the two groups were both decreased(P<0.05),and the reducing rate of the scores had significant difference in both groups(P<0.05).Compared each factor score of HAMD prior and post treatment,the difference in the levels of the reducing score rate was statistically significant between the two groups in terms of anxiety/somatization and dyssomnia factors(P<0.05).These suggested that both groups can improve the depression state of patients,the treatment group is superior than the control group,especially in the relief of anxiety/somatization and dyssomnia factors.4.After treatment,FIM scores and WHOQO-BREF scores in physiological and psychological fields were both increased in the two groups(P<0.05),and the difference in the increase rate of scores between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).These suggested that both groups can improve the ability of daily living activities and the living quality,and the treatment group is much better than the control group.5.In terms of the improvement of symptoms of the Melancholia of Traditional Chinese Medicine,the total effective rates in the treatment group was 94.4%,and the other group was 72.2%.The difference was statistically significant in two groups(P<0.05),indicating that the treatment group was superior than the control group in relieving symptoms of depression syndrome.Conclusion1.Head-acupuncture Therapy in the Bilateral Foot Motor Sensory Area and Mental Emotion Area has a positive clinical effect on patients with post-stroke depression,especially in the improvement of anxiety/somatization and dyssomnia factors.2.Head-acupuncture Therapy in the Bilateral Foot Motor Sensory Area and Mental Emotion Area has a good regulatory ability for patients with post-stroke depression,which can improve the neurological function,the ability of daily living activities and the level of quality of life.3.Head-acupuncture Therapy in the Bilateral Foot Motor Sensory Area and Mental Emotion Area can significantly improve the symptoms of the Melancholia of TCM of patients.With the criteria of operation and fixed acupoints,this Head-acupuncture therapy is safe and effective,and is worthy of further clinical promotion for treating PSD.
