PART 1:RELIABILITY AND VALIDITY EVALUATION OF CHINESE VERSION OF THE ORAL POTENTIALLY MALIGNANT DISORDERS QUESTIONNAIREObjective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the oral potentially malignant disorders questionnaire(OPMDQ).Methods: Using translation,back-translation,quality evaluation,cross-cultural adaptation and preassessment,a Chinese draft scale of the OPMDQ was obtained, the scale included 4 dimensions and 20 items. This was distributed to 210 oral potentially malignant disorders(OPMD)patients and 160 healthy subjects to evaluate its reliability and validity. After the subjects accomplished the questionnaires, the collected data was analyzed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. Results: 339 efficient scales were taken back, and the response rate were 91.6%.The Cronbach's ? for the total of the OPMDQ was 0.876,and the total score of the intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC)of the test-retest was 0.84.Following exploratory factor analysis, four factors were extracted showing an accumulating contribution rate of up to67.885% suggesting the scale had the expected joint and logical relationships, ranging from 0.469 to 0.854.For the discriminant validity of the scale, the difference between the scale scores of patients with OPMD and those of healthy subjects were statistically significant. Conclusion: The Chinese version of the OPMDQ displays good reliability and validity through strict performance tests. This can be applied in the population of oral potentially malignant disorders in China.PART 2: EVALUATION OF QUALITY OF LIFE AND ANALYSIS OF INFLUENCING FACTORS IN PATIENTS WITH ORAL LEUKOPLAKIAObjective: The Chinese version of OPMDQ was used to evaluate the quality of life of patients with oral leukoplakia(OLK),and to explore the influencing factors of the quality of life of patients with OLK.Methods: Using the Chinese version of the OPMDQ,50 patients with oral leukoplakia as the case group from the Department of Mucosa,Stomatological Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were investigated. At the same time,50 healthy individuals with no statistical difference in age, sex, smoking and drinking habits from the experimental group were selected as the control group. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the quality of life scores of the two groups of subjects. And the influence factors were tested by univariate analysis(Mann-Whitney U test or Kruskal-Wallis test)and multivariate analysis(Multiple linear regression). Results: Quality of life scores of OLK patients were higher than those of the healthy control group in all dimensions and the total score, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of the univariate analysis of influence factors affecting the quality of life in OLK patients showed that age, smoking, lesion size, symptoms, dysplasia, and number of lesions were related to the quality of life score of patients with oral leukoplakia(P<0.05).The results of the multivariate analysis of influence factors of the scores of OPMDQ showed that age, smoking, lesion size, symptoms, and dysplasia were the independent risk factors affecting the quality of life of patients with oral leukoplakia(P<0.05).Conclusion: Compared with healthy individuals, patients with oral leukoplakia have a worse quality of life.In addition, elder, smoking, lesion greater than 200mm2,symptom,and dysplasia can affect the quality of life of patients with leukoplakia.
