Objective:To investigate the life quality concerning the oral health of children aged3to5years old in Shihezi city, Xinjiang province by applying Chinese version ECOHIS (Early Childhood Oral Health Impact Scale), analyze its reliability and validity, and discuss the adaptability of Chinese version ECOHIS in children aged from3to5years of the area. Methods:From June to December,2012,300Chinese children aged3to5years old in6kindergartens of Shihezi city were selected by stage cluster random sampling. The research included checking the children’s dmft and collecting questionnaire from their parents. Questionnaire data were sorted and analyzed. The results were analyzed using SPSS18.0software package for/and Kruiskal-wallist H tests, and Spearman regression analysis. Results:The analysis of the imputed data set showed that whole Cronbach’s alphas was0.77and the rater consistence reliability was0.86. Children’s oral health problem was measured in the scale to have the least influences on’family financial impacts’and the greatest effects on parents’’inner guilty’for children’s oral health problems.’Low spirits’of children caused by their oral health problems were least frequent, while adverse impact of children’s’oral pain’had the highest frequency. The difference between the level of education of parents and C-ECOHIS scores had statistically significant(P<0.05). ECOHIS scores of the children with dental caries and a history of cavities were obviously higher than those without dental carics(P<0.01). ECOHIS scores of children was measured to have a significant correlation with the questionnaire scores of parents(rs=0.81, P<0.01). Conclusion:Oral health problems of children aged3to5years old in Shihezi city, such as pain and improper diet, may influence the quality of their own and their families life in certain extend, particular to the children with dental caries. The Chinese version of ECOHIS demonstrated good reliability and validity. It is available for preschool children in Shihezi city.
