Objective:According to the CHARLS database,to examine the relationship between the health condition of the elderly and re-employment,so to provide theoretical support and policy basis for the re-employment of the elderly in China. Also this paper tried to appeal to the public to pay more attention to the health of the elderly and the elderly labor market.Method: The data was from the China Health and Ageing Follow-up Survey(CHARLS)2015 database, supplemented with data from 2011 and 2013 by STATA software.Older people who reached the age for retirement were selected. As a result,3949 elderly people were chosen. With SPSS software, descriptive statistics analyze the distribution of the number of people between the various influencing factors, whether or not to re-employed.It focuses on various aspects of health: self-assessment of health status, number of chronic diseases, activity of daily life(ADL)and instrumental activities of daily life(IADL),mental health, and physical behaviors which affect the re-employment of the elderly.Among them, the chi-square test is used to examine whether each influencing factor on the reemployment of the elderly has a statistical impact. The Logit model was established to investigate the statistical influence of health factors and regression analysis of the elderly's reemployment.Results(1)The factors which have statistical significance were age, gender, marital status, education level, total family assets, type of household registration, pension, social security,self-rated health status, chronic disease, activities of daily life(ADL),instrumental activities of daily life(IADL),mental health status, and whether or not to drink alcohol.(2)The previous research in this study selected the following health indicators: health self-assessment,physical health, mental health, and psychological behaviors and habits.Physiological health includes secondary indicators of chronic disease, activity of daily life(ADL),instrumental activity of daily life(IADL),and vision and hearing. The lifestyle and habits of life include two indicators, smoking and drinking.Descriptive statistics and Logit regression show that the number and likelihood of reemployment of the elderly are different at different levels of health.(3)Self-assessment of health results showed that under the self-evaluation results of “bad” health status, the number of middle-aged and elderly people who did not re-employed was 595,while the number of reemployed person was 639,slightly lower, but the gap was not obvious. However, among the total number of people who have not re-employed,the number of elderly people who are “very bad” in health accounts for 34.6% of the total sample, which is higher than the ratio of the number of elderly people who are “bad” in the re-employment group. In the Logit regression model, the self-reported health re-employment probability of “good” and “general” was 1.667 times and 1.381 times higher than that of the self-assessed “bad” health status.(4)The results of different activities of daily life(ADL)in various physiological health indicators showed that between 75 and 95 districts, the most dependent population was 2682,accounting for 67.9% of the total sample. It indicates that most of the elderly in the sample have better ability for daily life.People who were completely independent(515)or mildly dependent(1550)ADL are more reemployed than non-re-employed(completely independent: 343;mild dependence: 1132).The number of re-employed middle-aged and elderly people is 50.15% of the number of people who are not re-employed,and the number of people who are slightly dependent as for ADL who are reemployed is 13.69%.However,in the case of heavy dependence, and total dependence for ADL,the number of people who are not re-employed is leading, especially in the case of total dependence, whose number of re-employed is only one.Logit regression results showed that the possibility of middle-aged and elderly who were completely independent(100 points),mildly dependent(75-95 points),and moderately dependent(50-70 points)were 15.618 times,14.418 times and 14.632 times than that of people who were completely dependent(0-20 points).(5)In the tool-based activities of daily life(IADL),2,567 people were able to complete independently to finish the test. The number of reemployed middle-aged and older people who scored 6 points and 5 points was larger than the number of people who did not re-employ.The number of IADL's undamaged reemployment was 1,559,and the number of people who were not re-employed was 1,008;the number of IADLs who were slightly impaired(5 points)was 370,and the number of people who were not re-employed was 276.In groups with scores below 5,the number of people who are not re-employed is higher than the number of people who are re-employed.Logit regression results showed that on the contrast with the group with a score of 6 points, the re-employment rate of the groups whose scores were 0,2,3,and 4 points accounted for 38.5%,48.5%,58.4%,and 51.7%,respectively.(6)In the study of chronic diseases, the number of people without chronic diseases was only 784,accounting for 19.85% of the total sample.Older people with more than 3 chronic diseases have no more reemployment(349,54.5%)than the reemployed(286,45.7%).In the case of 0,1,2,and 3 chronic diseases, there are more people who are re-employed.Regression analysis showed that compared with three or more chronic diseases, the probability of re-employment in elderly people who did not suffer from chronic diseases, suffered from a chronic disease, and suffered from two chronic diseases increased by 37.9%,45.3%,and 42.0%,respectively.(7)In the study of the degree of psychological depression, the number of reemployed people in the middle-aged and elderly people without depression and every level of psychological depression were higher than those of non-re-employed people without depression was not re-employed.The employment population is 53.6%,and the number of reemployment is 49.7% of the total reemployment.Logit regression results showed that the possibility of reemployed elderly people without psychological depression was 1.44 times higher than that of the elderly with psychological depression. Conclusion:By analyzing the distribution of reemployed and non-re-employed middle-aged and elderly people under various health indicators and Logit regression results, the re-employment status of middle-aged and older people in different health conditions is different. Therefore,in order to ensure that more elderly people reaching retirement age re-enter the labor market and contribute their own strength, the state and society must improve the health of them.
