Hospice care has gradually become a focus of the society with an increasing need for enhancing the quality of life. There are growing calls for having access to hospice care among people suffering from chronic and non-malignant diseases due to the unpredictable nature of non-malignant diseases. The early intervention of hospice care services and quality life care can provide patients and their families with more timely, adequate and comfortable care so that patients can pass away in greater peace. At present, the period of hospice care services advocated in academia is limited, and the service contents and perspectives need to be improved.Hospice care and death education have yet not been integrated with development, while research and practice of domestic social work involved in hospice care services are not enough relatively, especially for people affected by leprosy which are basically still in its infancy. This study is based on “the last alternative of life” practice service project carried out at the MZ Hospital, aiming at conducting researches on social work of hospice care for people affected by leprosy. It is found that effective hospice care service depends on the active initiative of the hospice service subject.Hospice care and death education should be integrated.Among them, conscious breakthrough of death education comes first and the practice support of the hospice care action comes second.Meanwhile, the hospice care model based on the conscious breakthrough-practice of the task-oriented theory of coping with death for people affected by leprosy can effectively assist the people to face death and improve their quality of life. This research, under the guidance of the quality of life at the conceptual level and the task-oriented theory of coping with death at the practical level, proposes the service mode of breakthrough in ideology-practice in action, thus breaking the original limitation of hospice care and death education and integrating services from both sides with the combination of the expertise of social workers.By doing so,the overall well-being of people affected by Leroy will be improved significantly,on the other hand,it provides a practical basis for integrating hospice care into social work for non terminal elderly population, which also plays an active role in its localization, enriching the mode and method of hospice care at the same time.
