The Research On Supervisors' Dilemmas And Action Strategies In Hospital Social Work Placement

Medical social work placement is an important part to cultivate social workers,and the supervision is very important for the Professional effectiveness.Based on the experience of ten placement supervisors in hospital social work,this research studies the dilemmas faced by the supervisors in the role practice of supervisor from a horizontal perspective and a vertical perspective,and explores the action strategies to solve the dilemmas.The dilemma of supervision includes the dilemma from the supervisor themselves and the dilemma arising from the interaction with other subjects.The dilemma from the supervisor themselves includes:(1)the supervisors has limited professional knowledge,and the local supervision knowledge develops slowly,so it is difficult for the supervisors to satisfy the demand of the interns;(2)the supervisor lack the ability to supervise interns;(3)the supervisor lack sufficient time and energy to participate in the supervision activities.The supervisor interacts with the subjects in the process of supervision,which constructs the supervision's dilemma,including:(1)at the intern level,the intern's professional ability and personality are uneven,which poses a great challenge to the supervisors;(2)The relationship between interns and field work supervisors are unbalanced,for example,the interns are resistant to the supervisors,or too dependent on the intern supervisor;(3)the absence of the field instructors in the supervision results that professional support from instructors is not enough.(3)the field work requirements of colleges are divorced from the situation of the hospital,which makes it difficult for supervisors to take control of supervision activities,and the functions of supervision are limited;the supervisors face difficulties in integrating the characteristics of the clients in hospital and the internship requirements of the colleges.From the perspective of the supervisor,the supervisor reflects on the breakthrough strategy of the dilemma.The strategies are mainly divided into three aspects:(1)the supervisors should energized themselves,including learning professional knowledge independently,constantly rethinks and reshapes the supervision habits in the supervision practice,to develop the practice of supervision;(2)constantly adjust the field work supervision mode to fit in with the interns;(3)actively build a cooperative relationship with the field instructors,and participate in the improvement of social work professional field work program,and bridge the gap between supervisors themselves with the field education system in colleges and universities.
