Objective:(1)To analyze and compare resilience?stress and psychological wellbeing of undergraduate nursing students in China and the UK,and analyze factors of nursing students' mental health,so as to provide theoretical basis for formulating nursing training program and improving the level of wellbeing of nursing students.Methods:1.Phase I:Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale-10,WHO 5 Well-Being Index(1998),Perceived Stress Scale-10 and Demographic data information questionnaire were used to investigate 259 nursing students in the second year of nursing at the University of Ulster in mid-April 2019.Statistical methods include statistical description, nonparametric test,Spearman correlation analysis and intermediary effect analysis.2.Phase II:1326 nursing undergraduates in the first to fourth grades of Nanjing University of traditional Chinese Medicine were investigated with the Chinese version Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale-10,WHO 5 Well-Being Index(1998),the Perceived Stress Scale-10 and Demographic data questionnaire in mid-April 2019.Statistical methods include statistical description, nonparametric test,Spearman correlation analysis and intermediary effect analysis.3.Phase III:Compare the results of nusing students in China and UK.Statistical methods include statistical description,t-test,chi-square test,Spearman correlation analysis, and stepwise regression analysisResults:(1)The resilience and stress of nursing students in the UK are at a medium level, and well-being is at a low level. The scores of resilience, stress and well-being of 255 nursing students were 26.70±5.11,20.94±3.87,and 15.43±4.38,respectively.The differences in nursing students of different marital status were statistically significant.Z=2.248(P<0.05),there was no statistical difference in the rest;the total scores of resilience were positively correlated with well-being of nursing students[rs=0.299,p<0.01],and the total scores of resilience and well-being were negatively correlated with the total stress scores respectively[rs=-0.152,p<0.05;rs=-0.371,p<0.01);whether the nursing students intentionally left the nursing profession was significantly negatively correlated with the total scores of resilience and wellbeing respectively[rs=-0.410,rs=-0.234,p<0.01],It was positively correlated with the total stress score[rs=0.198,p<0.01];the resilience played a partial mediating role between nursing students stress and well-being,and the mediating effect accounted for 9.64%of the total effect.(2)The resilience and stress of Chinese nursing students are at a medium level, and well-being is at a low level. The scores of resilience, stress and well-being of 646 nursing students were 25.14±5.375,21.63±3.20,and 14.91±3.84,respectively.The difference of resilience of nursing students with different genders was statistically significant,Z=-2.784(P<0.05).The difference of stress of nursing students with different gender, grade and whether one-child,the difference is statistically significant Z=-2.380,Z=13.227,Z=-3.276(P<0.05);whether to choose the nursing program independently, the scores of well-being are compared, and the difference is of statistical significance Z=-2.172(P<0.05);there was no statistically significant correlation between the resilience of nursing students and the total stress score[rs=-0.013,p>0.01].Thescores of wellbeing were significantly positively correlated with resilience[rs=0.415,p<0.01],and well-being was negatively correlated with the total stress score[rs=-0.286,p<0.01];whether the nursing students intentionally left the nursing professional total scores were negatively correlated with resilience and wellbeing respectively[rs=-0.130,rs=-0.190,p<0.01],and positively correlated with the total stress score[rs=0.196,p<0.01];resilience between stress and well-being play a partial mediation, mediating effect accounted for 3.34%of the total effect.(3)The results of the survey between the Chinese and British nursing students found that there was a significant difference in the level of psychological resilience between Chinese and British nursing students(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in the level of stress and well-being.The two variables, age and intention to leave nursing program, significantly predicted the level of psychological resilience(p=0.007*,p<0.001*).Conclusion:(1)The resilience and stress of nursing students in China and the UK are at a medium level, and well-being is at a low level. The intermediary effect of psychological resilience should be fully utilized to improve the mental health of nursing students.(2)The resilience,stress,well-being and intension to leave the nursing program of nursing students in China and Britain are all related. It shows that the mental health status of nursing students is of great significance to their professional stability.(3)Regression analysis shows that the age of nursing students and the willingness to leave the nursing program are important factors influencing the differences in the psychological resilience of nursing students in the two countries. This provides an evidence-based basis for the development of a training program for advanced nursing professionals in line with China's national conditions.
