ObjectiveResearches have shown that vitamin D and mean platelet volume(MPV)are related to cardiovascular disease. The study aims to evaluate the vitamin D status of young female who accepted regular health examination, analysis the changes of MPV in different of serum vitamin D level in the young female subjects.Investigate the relationship between MPV and serum vitamin D level or metabolic indexes, and research the clinical vaule of MPV in people who had vitamin D deficiency.MethodsWe studied 586 female subjects who referred to jinan central hospital affiliated to Shandong University accepted general health examinations from May to October,2015.All of the subjects, aged from 18 to 44 years old, without chronic disorder, such as diabetes, coronary artery disease, hypertension, dyslipidemia, abnormal renal and hepatic function, hematological diseases;hyperuricemia;thyroid disorder;obesity;cancer;chronic inflammatory disease;using drugs of antiplatelet medicationthyroid diseases;autoimmune disease;taking vitamin D or calcium supplements;smoking habit;heavy drinkers were excluded.Subjects were divided into 3 groups according to serum vitamin D levels(25-hydroxyvitamin D).Group A(vitamin D deficiency):25(OH)D < 20 ng/mL;Group B(vitamin D insufficiency): 20ng/mL?25(OH)D<30ng/mL;Group C(vitamin D sufficient):25(OH)D ?30 ng/mL.Then,Vitamin D level and MPV were evaluated after stratifying patients.Indicators such as age, heigh(H),weight(W),systolic blood pressur(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP)were measured, and calculated body mass index(BMI).Platelets, mean platelet volume(MPV),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high density lipoprotein cholesterole(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),and uric acid(UA)were measured. All data wereanalyzed for SPSS 18.0 software, results were expressed the mean±standard deviation, and categorical variables were expressed as percentages(%).Comparisons in three group were tested by one-way ANOVA.Relationships between MPV and these variables were analyzed using the Pearson correlation and a stepwise linear regression analysis.Differences were considered significant at P<0.05.Results1.The distribution of vitamin D status and analysis of the basic data of the subjects.Vitamin D deficiency and insufficient is very common in young women with the health examination.30.03 percent of the subjects had vitamin D deficiency and 25.43 percent was insufficient. The serum levels of FPG in Group A(5.36±0.42 mmol/L)was significantly higher than that in Group C(5.24±0.46 mmol/L,P<0.05).There were no significant statistically difference in these variables such as age,BMI,SBP,DBP,TC,TG,HDL-C,LDL-C,UA,PLT among three groups,P>0.05 for all.The serum levels of 25(OH)D : In Group A(15.53±4.34 ng/mL)was significantly lower than that in Group B and Group C(P<0.001 for all).In Group B(25.52±4.27ng/mL)was significantly lower than that in Group C(34.65±4.62 ng/mL,P <0.001).The vaule of MPV:In Group C(7.81±1.32 fL)was significantly lower than that in Group A(8.27±1.36 fL,P <0.01),but in Group B(8.09±1.29 fL)was not statistically significant compared with Group A and Group C,P>0.05 for all.(Table 1).2.Correlation analysis of MPV and these indexes.Pearson analysis performed that MPV was positively correlated with age(r=0.177,P<0.05),BMI(r=0.201,P<0.05),FPG(r=0.238,P<0.01);and negatively correlated with25(OH)D(r= ? 0.279,P<0.01),platelet number(r= ? 0.396,P<0.001).There was no correlations between MPV and these indexes such as SBP,DBP,TG,TC,HDL-C,LDL-C and UA.(Table 2).3.Linear regression analysis of MPV and these indexes.MPV as the dependent variable, multivariate linear regression analysis performed that these three indexes as FPG,PLT,25(OH)D were entered into regression models,P <0.05 for all.serum 25(OH)D levels(?=?0.274,P=0.009)and FPG(?=0.248,P=0.020)were independently associated with MPV.(Table 3).Conclusions1.The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency and insufficient were very common in young female of jinan city.2.Serum 25(OH)D levels and fasting plasma glucose(FPG)were independently associated with MPV,serum 25(OH)D levels decrease is related to the increase of MPV,there is a negative correlation between the two indexes.3.People with vitamin D deficiency have higher MPV,could be increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
