Palliative care aims to alleviate the total pain of end-of-life patients and meet the needs of end-of-life patients as well as their families and improve the quality of life of end-stage patients.The role of medical staff in hospice care has an important role to help to help the dying person company the last time of life in peace and dignity.With the increasing trend of China’s aging population,geriatric and chronic diseases have become the main causes of death for our residents,especially the increase in the prevalence of tumors in the elderly,which has objectively increased the demand for palliative care.Despite palliative care institutions have gradually been established in various places in our country,there are still contradictions among insufficient demand and supply and uneven distribution.There is a huge gap between the quality of death in China and other countries.The spiritual care in our country ’s hospice cere is basically not carried out in clinical practice,there is no consistency in spiritual concepts.Medical staff exist misunderstandings about spirituality and do not know how to identify spiritual needs or providing spiritual care? Training in palliative care are uneven.Spiritual care is the core of humane care in palliative care.The center of the spiritual concept is meaning and value.The key of spiritual care is to help end-patients to remember and experience the value of their life’s pride in life,so that they can pass away the world without regrets and dignity.Spiritual care pays attention to those who are dying to find the value and and meaning of life,guiding patients to self-introspect and companionship with caring.Healthy outlook on life and a scientific outlook on death serve as practicing medical humanistic spirit and medical humanistic care.The whole-person care of the body-mind-social-spirit models reflect the respect and awe of life of medical staff.The theoretical part of this paper analyzes the connotation of spirituality,spirituality and religion,religious view of death,spirituality and psychology,spirituality and pain.The empirical research part interviews 13 patients with advanced cancer and 6medical staffs as the research object.Using qualitative research methods,by understanding the spiritual distress of patients with advanced cancer and its impact on the patient’s body,life,beliefs,family and meaning.Summarizing the spiritual distress faced by patients and family members and medical staff,volunteers,nurses and family member’s understanding of spirituality and spiritual care.Hope to provide analysis and solutions for the spiritual cognition for the hospice carers.In spiritual care,it provides guidance for spiritual carers to alleviate the patients’ fear,anxiety as well as senselessness,and provides reference for helping the dying to find the value and meaning of life.
