ObjectiveTo investigate the status of career maturity,core self-evaluation and psychological stress in graduate student,analyze influencing factors of core self-evaluation and career maturity in graduate student;focus on the relationship and predict effect among psychological stress,core self-evaluation and career maturity of them;to develop a new perspective of studying the relationship between core self-evaluation and career maturity,in order to reduce the psychological stress as well as provide valuable theoretical basis for promote career maturity.Methods1.Literature analysis was conducted to explore the influencing factors of career maturity and core self-evaluation,summarize the appropriate process of career maturity and core self-evaluation and theoretical foundation of this study.2.A total of 556 graduate students in seven universities(Yunnan university,Ningxia university,Harbin medical university,Taishan medical college,Qingdao university,Shandong agricultural university,Shanghai second military medical university)were investigated with cross-sectional survey by using Core Self-Evaluations Scale(CSES),Graduate Questionnaire of Psychological Stress(GQPS)and Graduate Questionnaire of Career Maturity(GQCM),to test the psychological stress,core self-evaluation,career maturity of graduate students.Data were processed using SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences)17.0 software.Pearson correlation techniques were used to examine the relationship between psychological stress,core self-evaluation and career maturity;Multiple step wise regression were used to examine the influence factors of career maturity,core self-evaluation and psychological stress;and the proposed hypothesis was tested by structural equation model.Results1.The average score of career maturity in graduate student was 2.02±0.30,the average score of professional world knowledge was2.10±0.46,the professional self knowledge was1.86±0.44,the specialized knowledge was2.13±0.40,the interpersonal strategic knowledge was2.19±0.49,the independence was 1.86±0.45,the initiative was 1.98±0.43,the realism was 2.05±0.39,the orientation was 1.98±0.43,the confidence was 2.09±0.51,the influence factors of career maturity were core self-evaluation,psychological stress,vocational orientation and planning.All variables entering the model could explain 26.6%(AdjustedR~2=0.266).The average score of core self-evaluation of graduate student was 2.17±0.35,the influence factors of core self-evaluation in graduate student were career maturity,interpersonal stress,consciousness of scientific research,stress of thesis requirement.All variables entering the model could explain 29.8%(AdjustedR~2=0.298).The average score of psychological stress was 3.17±0.45,the stress of professional development is 3.12±0.53,the stress of paper requirement is 3.47±0.74,the stress of concern the future pressure3.30±0.63,the stress of economy and appearance is 3.08±0.68,the stress of interpersonal loneliness is 3.16±0.70,the stress of bad environment and mood is 2.95±0.67,the stress of healthy is 3.11±0.66,the stress of learning task is 3.19±0.68,The influence factors of psychological stress were career maturity,professional attitude,vocational orientation and planning,origin,core self-evaluation,strategic knowledge of interpersonal communication.All variables entering the model could explain9.5%(AdjustedR~2=0.095).2.Graduate students’career maturity was negatively correlated with the psychological stress(r=-0.208,p<0.01),was positive correlated with core self-evaluation(r=0.496,p<0.01),the level of core self-evaluation was negatively correlated with the psychological stress(r=-0.171,p<0.01).Path analysis showed that both the level of psychological stress(β=-0.131,p<0.01)and core self-evaluation(β=0.501,p<0.01)had directly effects on career maturity of graduate students,core self-evaluation mediated the relationship between psychological stress and career maturity(β=-0.133,p<0.05),the mediation effect accounted for 50.4%of the total effects.Conclusions1.The level of career maturity and core self-evaluation in graduate students’were low,and the level of psychological stress was moderate.2.The influence factors of career maturity were core self-evaluation,psychological stress,vocational orientation and planning;the influence factors of core self-evaluation in graduate students were career maturity,interpersonal stress,consciousness of scientific research,stress of thesis requirement.The influence factors of psychological stress were career maturity,professional attitude,core self-evaluation,vocational orientation and planning,strategic knowledge of interpersonal communication,origin.3.The level of psychological stress was negatively correlated with the career maturity and core self-evaluation of graduate student,the level of core self-evaluation in graduate student was significantly positively correlated with career maturity.4.core self-evaluation could partly mediates between psychological stress and career maturity;core self-evaluation could positively predict career maturity,psychological stress could negatively predict career maturity,and also negatively predict core self-evaluation.Increase the level of core self-evaluation of graduate students could slow the negative impact of psychological stress on the career maturity.
