Clinical Efficacy Of Yunnan Baiyao Combined With Co-Q10 In The Treatment Of Chronic Periodontitis

Objective:Yunnan Baiyao and Co-Q10 were used as adjuvant drug therapy in patients with chronic periodontitis after basic treatment,by recording periodontal clinical indexes and detecting the content of interleukin-1?(IL-1 ?)and malondialdehyde(MDA)in GCF,analysing the relationship between IL-1?,MDA with periodontal clinical indexes,to evaluate the efficacy of Yunnan Baiyao with Co-Q10 in the treatment of chronic periodontitis and to provide a new idea for its clinical application.Methods:60 patients with chronic periodontitis from the periodontal disease department affiliated stomatology hospital of kunming medical university were randomly divided into two groups:control group and experimental group.Probing depth(PD),attachment loss(AL),gingival sulcus bleeding index(SBI),plaque index(PLI)were recorded and extraction GCF to detect IL-1? and MDA before treatment in both groups.One week after basic periodontal treatment(supragingival scaling,subgingival scaling,root planing),the subjects of experimental group were treated with experimental drug paste mixed by Yunnan Baiyao and Co-Q10 in equivalent volume in the periodontal pocket at each visit,The subjects of control group were treated with 1%iodized glycerol in the periodontal pocket at each visit,once a week,altogether six times.After 6 weeks the changes of periodontal clinical index and the content of IL-1? and MDA in GCF in the two groups were reexamined.the concentration of IL-1? was detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)method,and the concentration of MDA was detected by thiobarbituric acid(TBA)method.All the measurement results were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 software package.Results:1.There were 30 subjects in the experimental group,including 17 males and 13 females,with an average age of 41.55±11.53.There were 30 subjects in the control group,including 16 males and 14 females,with an average age of 41.14±12.76.2.The experimental group before treatment:PD(4.19±0.90)mm,AL(5.34±1.38)mm,SBI(2.95±0.48),PLI(3.12 ±0.26),GCF(0.0045±0.0009)g,IL-1?(9.16 ±0.99)ng/ml,MDA(0.93 ±0.23)mmol/l;The control group before treatment:PD(4.08 ±0.85)mm,AL(4.62 ±0.89)mm,SBI(2.77 ±0.48),PLI(3.27 ±0.48),GCF(0.0042±0.0011)g,IL-1?(9.41±1.11)ng/ml,MDA(0.89±0.17)mmol/l.No significant difference in PD,AL,SBI,PLI,GCF,IL-1? and MDA between the experimental group before treatment and the control group before treatment(P>0.05).3.The experimental group reviews 6 weeks after periodontal basic treatment:PD(3.39±0.75)mm,AL(4.65 ± 1.15)mm,SBI(1.73 ±0.44),PLI(2.31 ±0.29),GCF(0.0022±0.0006)g,IL-1?(7.11±0.72)ng/ml,MDA(0.58±0.10)mmol/l;the control group reviews 6 weeks after periodontal basic treatment:PD(3.17±0.77)mm,AL(3.97± 0.95)mm,SBI(2.08 ± 0.31),PLI(2.33 ± 0.35),GCF(0.0025±0.0005)g,IL-1?(8.03±0.91)ng/ml,MDA(0.74±0.16)mmol/l.No significant difference in PD,AL,PLI,GCF between the experimental group 6 weeks after periodontal basic treatment and the control group 6 weeks after periodontal basic treatment(P>0.05).There were significant differences in SBI,IL-1? and MDA between the experimental group 6 weeks after periodontal basic treatment and the control group 6 weeks after periodontal basic treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion:Yunnan Baiyao combined with Co-Q10 local periodontal medi-cation can inhibit the local oxidative stress and inflammation in periodontal tissue,thus improve the clinical symptoms of periodontitis,and provide a new method for the clinical medication of periodontitis.
