Analysis Of Risk Factors For Cognitive Dysfunction In Patients With Epilepsy

Objective To analyze the risk factors of cognitive dysfunction in patients with epilepsy,and provide evidence for clinical prevention and treatment.Methods During the period from January 1,2018 to January 31,2019,101 patients with epilepsy who were admitted to the epilepsy specialist clinic of the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University were evaluated by the Mini-mental State Examination(MMSE)scale.According to the MMSE scale,the patients were divided into cognitive dysfunction group and normal cognitive function group.Single factor and logistic regression analysis were used to find the differences by comparing the two groups of influencing factors.Results 1.There were 27 cases of cognitive dysfunction in 101 patients with epilepsy and the incidence of cognitive impairment in epilepsy patients was 26.7%;2.Univariate analysis showed that the course of disease,frequency of seizures,seizure forms,types of antiepileptic drugs(AEDs)and electroencephalogram results existed significant differences between the two groups(P<0.05).3.The MMSE total score,time orientation force,location orientation force,calculation power and attention,short-range memory,language retelling,language comprehension,verbal expression and visual spatial ability of cognitive dysfunction group were lower than those of normal cognitive function scores and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),among which time-oriented force,localization ability,computational power and attention,short-range memory,language comprehension and visual space abilityhad significant difference(P<0.01);4.Logistic regression showed that course of disease(OR=1.087,P<0.05),frequency of onset(OR=6.404,P<0.05)and multidrug treatment of AEDs(OR=3.636,P<0.05)were independent risk factors for cognitive dysfunction in patients with epilepsy(P<0.05).Conclusion Course duration,frequency of seizures and AEDs multidrug therapy are independent risk factors for cognitive dysfunction in patients with epilepsy;2.Firstly,cognitive dysfunction in patients with epilepsy is mainly characterized by the seriously impairing of temporal and local orientation,computational power and attention,short-term memory,language comprehension and visual spatial ability.Secondly,impaired language retelling and verbal expression are another two features.
