Objective:To test the factor structure and criterion validity of the Chinese version of Beck Depression Scale(BDI-?-C)in Chinese college students.Methods:8,214 students(M = 18.49 years,SD = 1.07)from china completed the Chinese Version of the Beck Depression Inventory-II questionnaire, and 711 freshmen completed the clinical diagnosis interview of the Affective Disorder and Schizophrenia Interview Questionnaire(K-SADS).At the same time,114-,919-and 80 students were selected by convenient sampling method to retest after two weeks, one month and three months after the first evaluation. To test the factor structure of BDI-?-C,the BDI-?-C samples were randomly divided into 2 samples, using sample 1(n=4107)by parallel analysis combined with the scree test, and exploratory structural equation model(ESEM).The dimensional analysis of BDI-?-C was carried out to determine the factor structure. Then, sample 2(n=4107)was used to verify the optimal factor structure using confirmatory factor analysis(CFA)and the existing factor model in the previous literature. At the same time,The Receiver operating characteristic analyses were used to test the validity and optimal demarcation scores of BDI-?-C as a screening tool for depression disorders in college students.Results:1.Structural validity: Parallel analysis and ESEM results suggest that BDI-?-C is a 2-factor structure. The CFA results suggest that Bifactor BDI-?-C models specifying a general factor and two specificfactors(Cognitive-Affective and Somatic)to fit the data optimally, with our sample of common college students was the most suitable. The indicators were c2/df = 4.14,CFI =.981,TFI =.977,RESEA =.029.2.Reliability: The Omega ? coefficient of BDI-?-C is.93,the correlation coefficient of each item is from.08 to.43,and the correlation coefficient between each item and total score is from.35 to.60,two weeks later, one month later and The retest correlations after three months were.62,.66,and.52,respectively(P <.001).3.Criterion validity : Using K-SADS for reference,BDI-?-C showed good diagnostic performance in screening for depressive disorder(AUC=.87)and major depressive disorder(AUC=.89).The best overall cut-off score for screening for depressive disorder and major depressive disorder was 13 points. Conclusion:The BDI-?-C showed good structural validity and acceptable predictive validity in Chinese college students, can be used as an effective tool to screening all depressive disorders among college students in China.Meanwhile, among college students in China, the BDI-?-C total score reflects a single-dimensional structure, and the total score of the scale can properly assess the severity of depression in Chinese college students, while the subscale score is inappropriate..
