Purpose The purpose of this study is to translate the Postpartum Depression Predictors Inventory-Revised(PDPI-R) into its Chinese version, and to evaluate the psychometric properties of women with postpartum depression. Methods With the permission from the author of PDPI-R, Beck, the thesis adopted the translated version of PDPI-R modified and validated by medical experts. The psychometric properties of the Chinese version of PDPI-R was established with the due process. To test the validity and accuracy of PDPI-R-C, 202 mothers who completed all questionnaires during the third trimester of pregnancy and the first month after delivery were sampled from September 2013 to October 2014, who were admitted to a “TripleA” hospital in Hefei, Anhui Province. While PDPI-R-C was applied to evaluate the risks of the postpartum depression, testing results from using Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale(EPDS) and China-Postpartum Depression Screening Scale(C-PDSS) were adopted as criteria to assess postpartum depression and to graph Receiver Operating Characteristics(ROC) curve aiming to define the critical value of PDPI-R-C Postpartum Assessment and to evaluate its predicting accuracy and effectiveness. A randomly selected sample of 30 pregnant and postpartum women during the first two weeks of testing was used to re-evaluate the reliability of the Chinese version of PDPI-R.The thesis used project analysis to gauge the discrimination of Scales, Cronbach’s alpha to test reliability, and content validity, face validity, criterion-related validity, and criterion-related validity to evaluate its efficiency. Results ①After forward-backward translated, regulated, and the content validity, the I-CVI was 0.833~1.000, S-CVI was 0.91;②The result of project analysis suggested that the items has good identification;③The construct validity: 9 common factors of theprenatal version and 12 common factors of the postpartum version were extracted in the factor analysis used principal component analysis of varimax rotation, and the cumulative contribution rate were 56.389% and 61.659%,respectively. In general, the factor structure of scale was reasonable.④Criterion-related validity displayed the scores of the prenatal version and the postpartum version of PDPI-R are correlation with the total score of EPDS;⑤The Cronbach’s α coefficient of the prenatal version and the postpartum version were 0.650 and 0.714,the retest coefficient were 0.803 and 0.814,respectively. ⑥The Chinese version of PDPI-R possess good predictive validity. When the critical value is 4.5, its sensitivity and specificity are 64.1% and 77.3%,respectively;When the criticalvalue is5.5, its sensitivity and specificity are 89.7% and 49.7%,respectively.Conclusion All the indexes of PDPI-R-C were within acceptable levels of psychology measurement.Screening for postpartum depression related risk factors can effectively predict postpartum depression.
