In China, the incidence of breast cancer is increasing at a rate of 3% to 4%year by year.As the most common malignant tumor in modern women, the age of onset of breast cancer is gradually becoming younger.Despite the advancement of medical technology, the cure rate of breast cancer is getting higher and higher, but the psychological needs of breast cancer patients have not received enough attention.According to the survey, female breast cancer patients have different degrees of depression during treatment, and the incidence of postoperative depression is much higher than that before surgery.Depression is not only unfavorable to the rehabilitation of patients, but also affects their quality of life. How to reduce the level of depression in breast cancer patients and help them rebuild their self-confidence is also a challenge for the Chinese social work practice field.Narrative therapy is a new paradigm of current social work practice. It has got rid of the traditional concept of "problem perspective" of psychological therapy, and used the techniques of problem externalization and finding exceptions to liberate the case from the shackles of life stories.Re-write positive, dignified and valuable life stories to improve patients' negative self-esteem and disease, reduce depression levels, and better face the challenges of future life.Based on the theory of narrative therapy, this study conducted a case-by-case intervention for a female breast cancer patient in Y hospital to explore the service strategies of social workers using narrative therapy theory to reduce the level of depression in female breast cancer patients. In this study, the self-rating depression scale was used as a measurement tool, and the case was intervened from six stages.Through analysis,it explores the conflict between the old self-narrative and the mainstream narrative of the client, and helps the client to think newly about the self-life story;separate the problem from the individual, give full play to the individual's autonomy and subjective initiative, and guide the discovery.Exceptional incidents, from thin to thick,re-help the client to construct a new life story;in addition, through the witness of outsiders, help the client to consolidate a new life story. This study analyzes the effectiveness of the service by analyzing the data before and after the measurement, structural interviews, observations, etc.,and concludes that narrative treatment is effective in reducing the depression of female breast cancer patients. In addition, the author also discussed and prospected the application of narrative therapy in social work practice.
