Abstract/Summary:
Objective:To investigate the incidence of olfactory disturbance and its possible related factors in patients with Parkinson’s disease(PD).Methods:126 patients with primary Parkinson’s disease who were admitted to the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from November 2017 to July 2018,and 100 healthy volunteers were selected as the control group in the same period.Olfactory function was evaluated using the Parkinson’s disease olfactory function diagnosis card(Kin Pamor)in PD patients and healthy volunteers. The incidence of olfactory disorders in the two groups was compared. The correlation of age, gender, disease duration,Hohn-Yahr staging, unified Parkinson disease rating scale-III(UPDRS-III)score,rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder(RBD),constipation, education level, the echo of substantia nigra and olfactory function was analyzed in PD group.Stepwise linear regression analysis was used to analysis the factors of affecting PD olfactory disturbance. Results:The incidence of dysosmia in the PD group was 74.6%,and that in the normal control group was 19.0%.The incidence of dysosmia in the PD group was significantly higher than that in the control group(X2=68.95,P<0.01).The correlation analysis showed that the sex(r=0.181,P=0.042),age(r=0.371,P=0.021),education(r=0.206,P=0.021),constipation(r=0.185,P=0.038),RBD(r=0.787,P<0.001)and the echo of substantia nigra(r=0.200,P=0.025)were associated with olfactory dysfunction;the duration(r=0.092,P=0.306),Hohn-Yahr staging(r=0.018,P=0.840)and UPDRS-Ⅲscore(r=0.001,P=0.989)were not associated with olfactory dysfunction.Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that gender, age, education,RBD,constipation had an effect on the olfactory score of PD group. Conclusion:The incidence of olfactory disorder in patients with PD is high. The olfactory function of patients with PD is related to gender, age, education, constipation and RBD,and it was independent of disease course,Hohn-Yahr stage,UPDRS-Ⅲ score and the echo of substantia nigra.
