A Study Of Clinical Application Of Epicanthus Correction And Removal Of Lower Eye Bag By The Short Transverse Incision At Medial Canthus

Objective:To introduce an operation way of epicanthus correction and removal of lower eye bag by the short transverse incision at medial canthus,and obtain the patients'satisfaction and incidence of postoperative complications through the postoperative follow-up visits,so as to perform statistics on and summarize the clinical efficacy of this way.Method:25 patients?females?who received epicanthus correction and removal of lower eye bag by the short transverse incision at medial canthus and received double-fold eyelid operation from September of 2016 to September of 2017 in the medical cosmetology center of affiliated hospital of Qingdao University,who were followed up for 12 months and investigated with satisfaction and complications,were selected as the study objects.At the 1^st,6th and 12th month after operation,the satisfaction and complications were followed up.The satisfaction covered five grades:very satisfied,unsatisfied,general,satisfied,very satisfied,which was evaluated by the patients themselves.Complications covered the six items:epicanthus hypertrophic scar,epicanthus overcorrection,epicanthus undercorrection,excessive lower eye bag removal,inadequate lower eye bag removal,tear excretion disorder,which was evaluated by the surgeon team.Results:Incisions for 25 patients were healed by first intention,no incision infection.The follow-up visit performed at the 1st month after operation:3 eyes?6%?with hypertrophic scar in epicanthus incision,1 patient was“unsatisfied”with the hypertrophic scar.2 eyes?4%?with epicanthus undercorrection,0 eye with epicanthus overcorrection,1 patients was“unsatisfied”with the epicanthus overcorrection.2 eyes?4%?with inadequate lower eye bag removal,2 eyes?4%?with excessive lower eye bag removal,1 patient was“unsatisfied”with inadequate lower eye bag removal.0 eye with tear excretion disorder.The follow-up visit performed at the 6th month after operation:0 eye with hypertrophic scar in epicanthus incision,2 eyes with epicanthus undercorrection,0 eye with overcorrection,1 patient was still“unsatisfied”with the epicanthus overcorrection.No eyes with inadequate lower eye bag removal,2 eyes with excessive lower eye bag removal,and 0 eye with tear excretion disorder.The follow-up visit performed at the 12th month after operation:0 eye with hypertrophic scar in epicanthus incision,2 eyes with epicanthus undercorrection,0 eye with overcorrection,1 patient was still“unsatisfied”with the epicanthus overcorrection.No eyes with inadequate lower eye bag removal,no eyes with excessive lower eye bag removal,and 0 eye with tear excretion disorder.Conclusion:short transverse incision at medial canthus about 1.5cm long can fully expose the lower eyelid orbital septum and eyelid orbital septum fat.Compared to the eyelid conjunctival incision,it can more conveniently remove the lower eye bag.For the epicanthus patients with lower eye bag,it can correct the epicanthus and remove the lower eye bag,while lower eyelid conjunctival incision is not needed.Advantages:1.it can effectively correct the epicanthus and reconstruct the mechanical structure of inner canthus.2.it is hidden,with lower incidence of hypertrophic scar.3.it can conveniently remove the lower eye bag.This operation way is more suitable for the young patients needing correction of epicanthus and removal of lower eye bag.
